Whenever you run any sort of story on the airport (Citizen, May 15) you usually add comments from local Blackpool councillors.

Perhaps you should actually put comments in from the appropriate Fylde Borough Councillor (or officer) after all, the airport is in the administrative area of Fylde, NOT Blackpool!

So any planning application would be dealt with at Fylde and not Blackpool.

On the subject of the airport and the hotly debated expansion plans, as someone who was born here, whose father was born here and whose both sets of grandparents are buried in the cemetery in Regent Avenue, I would actively support expansion.

I have young children and am thinking to the future that this would provide jobs for the next generation.

I am a local resident by the way, living off Leach Lane, so I will feel the effects of expansion. However this has to be matched with the benefits of economic development and job creation in the area.

Of those objectors, how many take advantage of flights from the nice local airport (no need to travel to Manchester or even Gatwick or Heathrow)?

Also, I wonder how many objectors (or percentage of them) are nicely retired with a comfortable pension, such that job creation and economic development does not matter to them?

David Shepherd, St Annes.
