Congratulations over Veterans’ week success

Re Veterans’ Week (Citizen, July 3), I carried the Canal Zoners’ Standard and am local organiser for Cumbria and North Lancs A group.
Some stayed at hotels, others travelled during the week. We all thought we were treated magnificently by everyone we came in contact with, including shop keepers, cafes etc.
The week was wonderful. Last year I went to Weymouth Vets’ Week, but Blackpool is better.
I am not biased, even though I was born in Blackpool and lived there till I left school.
We have now set up contact with Bispham High School. The school adopted the Canal Zone Oak Tree in Stanley Park.
Six of us attended the school last week and were treated like royalty. I do believe the pupils appreciated us grandparents.
We hold our meetings in Kendal and our national reunion is at the Park House during September.
