A FORMER post office and pharmacy have been replaced by a beauty salon.

Tina Nails and Beauty is the new business in Barrow offering providing a full range of beauty services and treatments for women and men.

The salon, at 108-110 Duke Street, has a specialist team of qualified beauty therapists and trainees with services such as hairdressing, massage, and nail art.

A renovation was undertaken to provide guests with private treatment rooms, an open plan floorplan and big windows looking onto the main street.

Justyna Kostyla, who was formerly self-employed as Tina Nails in Dalton Road, opened the salon on Monday. She explained the business so far is 'pretty great and busy' with a mix of both new and long-time clients.

"I have more clients coming now which is very positive," she said.

"I have really great contact with my clients. We always laugh - it is always comfortable for everyone."

Justyna has been working for the past six years in the nail industry and is a certified nail technician.

She said every customer wants different nail designs and tastes change from person to person.

"I have a client who loves having funky nails," she said.

"I do loads of nail art and 90 per cent of the designs I can do it.

"I love doing the designs and the atmosphere I work at. My clients are great and I think this is what I love the most about my job."

The 36-year-old, who came from Poland to work in the UK, has been living in Barrow for 18 years.

"I really like this town. I feel more at home here than in my own city," she said.

The business is currently on the lookout for a make-up artist to join the team.

Tina Nails and Beauty opens from 9.30am to 7pm every day.
